Trekking grades

 

Easy

Walking an average of 3 to 4 hours per day, mostly on well-beaten paths with moderate differences in altitude. If you are used to regular health walks, you will be satisfied. Otherwise, here is your chance to feel the physical and mental benefits of walking while discovering amazing surroundings.

Training: It would be good to start training yourself at least two months prior to your departure. A ten kilometer walk twice a week is strongly recommended.

Moderate  

Walking an average of 4 to 6 hours daily mostly on well-beaten paths. Ascent and descent from 400 to 700m difference in altitude, and up to 1000m or more if ascending a volcano. If you are used to regular 15km walks, or if you have already done an “EASY” level program during several days previously, you are ready for our Moderate programs.

Training: It is strongly recommended to start training yourself at least two months prior to departure with regular long walks combined with the practice of another sport.

Demanding

Walking an average of 6 hours per day going up and down on rugged semi-wild paths with 700m to 1000m difference in altitude. If you are used to going for regular nature treks on rugged trails, or the practice of an intense sport, you will be a good candidate.

Training: Anyone intending to join a program of this level needs preparation like jogging swimming, and /or cycling on long distances for at least two months prior to departure as a good physical condition is absolutely essential.

–        Batur, Agung & Rinjani, the Volcanic Trio – 10 days

 

Challenging

Over 6 hours walking per day with average altitude of 1000m or more if ascending a volcano. Ideal for those who like wild nature treks on difficult trails. If you have already done one of our “DEMANDING” programs this will suit you.

Training: In order to fully enjoy your travel, prepare yourself at least 2 to 3 months prior to departure on a basis of 2 to 3 times weekly, jogging 10km, swimming and/or cycling on long distances.

Extreme

These programs require a lot of experience in alpinist and expeditions as well as long term, intensive physical training.
